Phoenix Metro Maharashtra Mandal(PMMM) of Phoenix, Arizona is a non profit organization established in early eighties. Every year PMMM committee organizes cultural, social, traditional programs and fun-filled gatherings. It provides a forum to preserve, promote, and cherish the great history and socio-cultural values of Maharashtra. These progams encourage community member participation, interaction and sharing of cultural values.
The charter of the organization is to provide a forum for the people who claim 'Marathi' as their mother tongue or Maharashtra (a State in Western India whose capital is Bombay/Mumbai) as their origin. However it is open to anyone who wants to join with affiliation to Marathi language and culture. Membership and programs are open to everyone.
Events may vary from year to year, 'Ganesh Chaturthi' with Ganapati Puja is always performed every year. Other events include Makar Sankrant, Gudhi Padwa, Kojagiri and Diwali. In addition a picnic is arranged during the year. Organization also tries to promote 'Marathi Culture' by presenting Music Concerts, Drama performance by Artists visiting from Maharashtra, India or other cities & Screenings of Marathi Movies. |
